Vasylyna Buryanyk

Studied fine arts at the Shandor Petefi Uzhhorod Children's School of Arts (1992-2000). Graduated with honors from the Adalbert Erdeli Uzhhorod College of Arts, specializing in design (2000-2004, junior specialist degree), and from the Lviv National Academy of Arts, specializing in textile art (2004-2010, master's degree). The creative focus of Vasilina's artistic experiments is textiles. By utilizing its "softening" properties, the artist communicates with the viewer about the open wounds on the body of reality

Project "Tears that solidify and blood that doesn't clot" Kinetic installation (2020). M17 Contemporary Art Center, Kyiv, Ukraine. This work concerns Russia's war in Ukraine (before the full-scale invasion) which lasted from 2014 to 2022. "Tears that solidify and blood that doesn't clot" is a metaphorical representation of abnormalities in the biological body (where the dynamic becomes static and vice versa) caused by a higher degree of tragedy from the pain or loss. Description The installation consists of two aquariums filled with saline solution and relief textile elements inside of them. The textile surface of the aquarium No1 is covered with metal plates (ideally, artillery shell fragments) that are rusting while interacting with salts and create the allegory of blood. The textile surface of the aquarium No2 is covered with a dense net on which new salt crystals are gradually appearing during the whole exposition time symbolizing heavy/solid tears.
