When I think about the concept of the ideal city, I imagine the city as a “playground
for adults”. That is, numerous “playground” of different shapes, sizes, and styles,
flowing into one another and simplifying navigation through the city. This is a topic
that can be developed endlessly, but here we need to focus on one thing.
In our current wartime, I have seen a huge number of checkpoints where the
military built roadblocks from several modules: sandbags, foundation blocks, and
car tires. I felt a childish urge to provide our servicemen with concrete “building
bricks” of different shapes, so they could make the protective structures more
functional and convenient both for people who work at the checkpoints and the
drivers.
As a result of my work at this residency, I want to present variants of concrete
blocks of various shapes as a children’s play set “Сheckpoint-builder”, where
anyone can create a model roadblock.
